At a grand event in Mumbai the much-awaited trailer of David Dhawan’s Judwaa 2 was unveiled on Monday 21 August 2017.
Salman Khan, who played the lead role in the original 1997 film will be seen in a cameo in Judwaa 2. Ironically, David Dhawan also directed the original film.
The action packed over three minute video sees the story unfold much like the original one. The trailer shows Varun is reprising Salman’s Prem and Raja from the original. Walking in the footsteps of Salman Khan, Varun has gone ahead and tried his best to mimic the actor in the scenes recreated for the second installment of the film. Unlike Salman, Varun fails to distinguish between the two. He plays the character of raja the “chichora” perfectly, but as Prem he lacks to portray the simple, innocent guy, unless Prem’s characterization is changed from the original one.
Karisma Kapoor and Rambha have been replaced with Taapsee Pannu and Jacqueline Fernandez. It is the right decision by the makers considering both Karisma and Rambha were amazing at dancing and expressions. But, Taapsee and Jacqueline fail in expressions required for the dance and scenes. Neither they will be able to match the grace and talent of Karisma and Rambha. The action-packed over three-minutes video sees the story unfold much like the original one. The sequel will have the blockbuster songs, Oonchi hai Building and Tan Tana Tan rehashed by Anu Malik. It is also said that the team has shot in Mauritius for another song from the original titled, Tu Mere Dil Mein Bas Ja.
The film is scheduled to be released on 29th September. But will it work two decades after Salman gave us the hit? Will people go and watch the movie where everything in the Judwaa 2 trailer looks like the original except Varun Dhawan has replaced Salman Khan? Only time will tell.
